A new salon and boutique is celebrating its grand opening with beauty, fashion, community and a story of faith and reinvention.

For Udy Medua-Brown, opening Modern Luxe Magnolia in Crowley is about much more than starting a new business. It represents coming full circle.

After more than 25 years in the beauty industry, Udy is returning to her entrepreneurial roots with a new vision: a welcoming space where beauty, fashion, confidence and community come together.

Modern Luxe Magnolia, a salon and boutique in Crowley, will celebrate its Grand Opening on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at 11 a.m. at 121 S. Texas St. in Crowley.

The community is invited to come celebrate the new business, enjoy refreshments, take advantage of special offers, and participate in giveaways throughout the event.

A Journey From Nigeria to Crowley

Udy's journey to becoming a local entrepreneur began far from Texas.

Born and raised in Nigeria, she came to the United States at just 17 years old with ambition, strong values and a desire to build a meaningful life. She spent approximately 34 years in the Austin and Round Rock area before making Crowley her home six years ago.

Over the years, Udy has built a diverse career as a licensed cosmetologist, salon owner, educator, beauty industry leader and entrepreneur. Her professional experience has also included business development, sales, marketing, education, corporate beauty leadership and healthcare-related ventures.

Those experiences eventually led her back to the beauty industry and, ultimately, to Modern Luxe Magnolia.

“What initially felt like doors closing ultimately became redirection,” Udy says.

That redirection brought her back behind the chair and into entrepreneurship with decades of experience, a deeper sense of purpose and a clearer vision for the kind of business she wanted to create.

More Than a Salon

Modern Luxe Magnolia combines two of Udy's passions: beauty and style.

The salon and boutique is designed to offer professional beauty services alongside fashion and accessories, creating an experience where clients can take time for themselves, discover something beautiful and leave feeling confident.

For Udy, however, the heart of the business is people.

“My favorite thing about my community is the people,” she says. “I love the sense of connection, support, and togetherness.”

She hopes Modern Luxe Magnolia will become more than a place where people come for a beauty service. She wants it to be a space where everyone who walks through the doors feels welcomed, valued and celebrated.

“I don’t just want to own a business in my community. I want to be part of what makes our community stronger.”

That spirit of community is also reflected in Udy's involvement outside of her business. She serves as Vice President of the Alpha Pi Sigma Philo Affiliate of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., and is passionate about leadership and service.

She is also a Texas Realtor, Notary Public and author, continuing a lifelong pattern of learning, growing and creating new opportunities.

A Grand Opening With the Community in Mind

The September 5 grand opening will give local residents an opportunity to meet Udy, experience the Modern Luxe Magnolia brand and celebrate this new chapter with her.

Guests can look forward to giveaways, special offers, refreshments and community, along with an introduction to the salon and boutique.

The event reflects what Udy hopes Modern Luxe Magnolia will represent moving forward: luxury beauty, timeless style and a genuine connection with the community.

And for Udy, this new chapter is grounded in faith.

As a wife and mother, she considers family an important foundation of her life, and she credits her faith with helping guide her through the many transitions in her career.

Her advice to aspiring entrepreneurs is simple but deeply personal: don't be afraid to start, start over or change direction.

“Every closed door is not a failure. Sometimes it is redirection toward something greater,” she says.

Today, that redirection has brought Udy to Crowley, where she is building something she hopes will continue to grow for years to come.

Looking ahead, she envisions expanding Modern Luxe Magnolia into a full-service salon, med spa and full boutique line.

For now, she is inviting the community to celebrate the beginning of that journey.
