Did you know there is a Birth Boot Camp right here in Mansfield, Texas?

What do you think of when you hear the words "Boot Camp"?

Images of soldiers crawling through mud probably come to mind. Or maybe you are thinking of a Biggest Loser-type scenario, where a super in shape fitness instructor is yelling at a gym full of sweaty people trying to lose weight.

Both of those scenarios would perfectly fit Merriam-Webster's definition

Definition of boot camp

1a navy or marine corps camp for basic training

2a disciplinary facility or program in which young offenders are forced to participate in a rigidly structured routine

3a place or undertaking that resembles a military boot camp especially by requiring one to endure intensive training or initiation

We are definitely NOT talking about that type of boot camp here!

Meet April, your Birth Boot Camp instructor. Here is what she has to say:

"Hello! My name is April Francom and I am a certified childbirth educator and birth doula in Mansfield, TX. I love helping families prepare for the birth of their child. Caring for and supporting mothers during this vulnerable time in their life is so special to me.

I have 4 children with my dear husband, Corey. They are the joy in my life! Being a mother is my most important role and I am thankful for all of the love and support I receive.

I love Jesus and hope it shines through in everything I do and say.

Homeschooling my 2 youngest children, who happen to be teenagers, definitely keeps me busy. But I love it!

I began my journey as a birth professional 7 years ago. My personal births were very inspiring to me (2 medicated, 2 unmedicated, all in the hospital). I really enjoyed talking about birth and helping others. My dear friend, who was a childbirth educator, made the decision to begin Birth Boot Camp and I jumped into that project with both feet! What a joy it has been to support families through training childbirth educators and doulas, creating amazing curriculum for them to teach, creating online classes for people to take all over the world.

Since Birth Boot Camp was formed, I have been a member of the Headquarters team as the Certification Coordinator. I help guide instructors and doulas through the certification process and mentor them as they work their new businesses. I have an intimate knowledge of Birth Boot Camp, its curriculum, and their certification programs.

My hope is that you are planning to take a childbirth class to prepare for the birth of your little one. I would be honored if you would consider allowing me to join you on this amazing journey. My classes are fun, laid back, and comfortable because we talk about ALL.THE.THINGS."
