After a long, hard winter, we're all looking forward to some time outdoors. And what better way to get outdoors than enjoy a day with the family at a National Park!
This week is National Parks Week! Beginning April 16th through the 24th there are NO entry fees to enter the parks. That's right, absolutely FREE. (Every parent's favorite four-letter word!)
My family and I love getting out of town and visiting national parks. It's such an affordable way to vacation, and a great way to enjoy nature. There's nothing better than a hike through the mountains, or sledding down the white sand of White Sands National Park in New Mexico. How about floating on a river in Big Bend? Put your feet in the water and wade out as far as you can. Leave the city and the busyness behind, and go find yourself again out in the wild.
Do you RV? National Parks have some of the most affordable rental spaces for campers!
Now while we may be short on National Parks here in North Texas, I've compiled a list for you that are within driving distance. So whether you're traveling this weekend to go see family for the holiday, or you just need a good excuse to get out of town, visiting a National Park is always a good idea.
(Side note: There is a new documentary on Netflix about National Parks worldwide! It's called "Our Great National Parks." Be sure to check it out.)
